So, why do most stair treads fall short?
The majority of stair treads on the market are made from Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF), wrapped in a thin paper veneer that’s printed to resemble the flooring. While MDF is inexpensive and easy to manufacture, it’s not designed to stand up to heavy foot traffic—and it’s certainly not waterproof.
